2nd Report  - Flood Relief by Ramakrishna Mission, Fiji

We are happy to inform our friends, well-wishers and generous donors that we have now completed the “School Assistance” phase of the flood relief being conducted by the Ramakrishna Mission, Fiji.

During this phase we reached out to sixteen schools in areas where parents were struggling to send their children to school. We requested the Head Teachers of the school to provide us a list of their requirements and have met almost all their requirements such as textbooks, exercise books, school uniforms, school fees and stationeries. Furthermore, “Value education” book packs containing 50 titles were donated to the libraries of 14 schools.

The following is a summary of the items distributed (detailed report is attached separately):

We spent about $18,000 on this school assistance phase of the relief. Most of the items were procured by us while some books and stationeries were generously donated by Post Fiji, business houses from Savusavu and individuals. We express our gratitude to all who came forward to join hands with us to assist in the education of our children.

During the final phase of the Relief operations, we are constructing two houses for families to assist families whose houses were severely damaged by the floods.

We once again thank our generous donors and enthusiastic volunteers for their assistance. May the Divine Mother bless them.
