SVC Water Project
We are pleased to inform that the 30,000 litre borewell water project at Swami Vivekananda College was commissioned on 16th April 2010 by Mr Tomasi Vakatora, CEO, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings & Deputy Chairman, Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation. The representatives of the organisations sponsoring RPWFL - Westpac bank, Vodafone, Rotary were present at the special function held in the Swami Rudrananda Auditorium to celebrate the occasion and thank the sponsors. The whole project was generously funded by Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation at a cost of about $45,000.
On the third bore-well attempt we were lucky to find a 25 litre/second water source at a depth of 30m at the lower end of the main playing field. A submersible pump was installed. Then a 275 meter trench was dug all along the side of playing field to the back of the main building (behind the Principal's office) where a 3 meter high concrete platform was been built. On this platform 3 x 10,000 litre capacity Rotomould water tanks are being installed. A gravity fed distribution system supplies water to all drinking fountains, toilets etc on the campus.
We thank the Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation and its sponsors for their generous support.
